ZONTA CLUB OF LOUISVILLE AWARDS GRANTS in 2011.

The Zonta Club of Louisville awards annual grants to local organizations which share our mission: to advance the status of women. In addition, members donate supplies to the SANE program and Mom's Closet and volunteer their services for local agencies that share our mission. We are also exploring other ways of serving.

In the last two years, members of the Zonta Club of Louisville have volunteered over 10,000 hours and contributed thousands of dollars to advance the status of women both here and abroad.
For example, members participated in Take Back the Night at the University of Louisville.

This year, the Zonta Club of Louisville awarded grants to the following:
The Center for Lay Ministries: Bliss House,
Family Scholar House
Habitat for Women
Zonta International Foundation

Service and advocacy have always been  the cornerstone of Zonta, both internationally and locally. An estimated 500,000 people every year receive help from Zonta's international and local service projects.

The continuing service projects are the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Awards Program, and the Michael J. Freeman Scholarships. New projects have included special partnerships with the U.N. Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the U.N. International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

The Zonta Club of Louisville also supports service projects which foster the development of women and children in the metro area. Service projects are selected each year from grant applications.
Grants have been given in the past to The Center for Women & Families, Spouse Abuse & Rape Relief Center, Jefferson County Public School Adult Literacy Program, Kentucky Girl Scouts, Maryhurst, Home of the Innocents, Habitat for Humanity, Shawnee High School's Aviation Program, among others.
We have an ongoing scholarship trust set up at the University of Louisville  and at Spalding university for single mothers and women with limited means seeking bachelor's degrees.
